Getting Started

Checking Your System

PeoplePC Accelerated works with a wide range of Windows Operating Systems (Windows 98, Me, 2000 or XP) as well as your Internet Explorer browser. You can use PeoplePC Accelerated with other browsers including Netscape, Opera, and Mozilla after completing some additional configuration. Please note: PeoplePC supports Internet Explorer 5.5 and higher.

Installation

In order to start surfing the web faster, you will need to install PeoplePC Online Accelerated software on your computer. You can install this software using the disc you received in the mail, or by downloading it from the web.

Starting and Restarting PeoplePC Accelerated

PeoplePC Accelerated is designed to be available at all times. A small red PeoplePC icon appears in the Windows area near the clock at the bottom right hand corner of your screen (also known as your system tray) when PeoplePC Accelerated is running. If PeoplePC Accelerated is not running, you can start the program from the Windows Start menu, using the sequence of commands listed below:

Programs -> PeoplePC Online -> PeoplePC Online

Windows Start Menu

You will see the following commands in the Windows Start menu:

Option Description
Accelerated This folder includes help for the Accelerated feature and a link to the Accelerated settings.
Accessories This folder includes links to useful features, including: Web Mail Address Book, Email Change Notification Tool, My Homepage, Spaminator, and Email Virus Blocker.
PeoplePC Help PeoplePC Help offers troubleshooting tips in case that you experience problems with Internet access after installing PeoplePC Accelerated.

Help also contains information about using PeoplePC Accelerated with browsers including Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, and Mozilla.
PeoplePC Online Starts PeoplePC Accelerated.
