What is Known spam Blocking?
Known spam Blocking is enabled by default on all PeoplePC email addresses. spam Controls are constantly being updated to recognize new spam circulating on the Internet. What is spaminator with Suspect Email Blocking?
spaminator is PeoplePC's highest level of spam protection and includes Suspect Email Blocking. Only email from senders who are in your Web Mail Address Book will reach your Inbox. - 4 additional email addresses and 400 MB total storage per mailbox
I would like to increase the storage space on my current mailbox but I don’t need the extra email addresses. How do I do this?
You can increase your storage space to 200 MB or 400 MB and you will automatically get additional email addresses. These email addresses are available for you to set up and use at any time but you can continue to use just your primary email address.
If I use POP3 account for email (eg Outlook Express), can I still get Email Plus?
If you use a POP3 account for email, (e.g.Outlook Express), you can still get Email Plus. Your Email Plus will include additional email addresses and storage. Please note that additional storage only applies to PeoplePC Web Mail. Storage space for POP3 accounts are determined by the storage space available on your computer.

You can add new email addresses at any time by visiting the Email Settings page in My Account. Once they’ve been added, you will need to login to the mailbox to change the settings.

You can view the extra storage for each mailbox through Web Mail.
Can I have all of my extra storage for one mailbox instead of spread out over all of them?
At the moment, 400 MB is the most storage you can have for any one mailbox.
WI already have Email Plus with 2 additional email addresses and 200 MB storage, can I upgrade?
Yes, you can upgrade and get 2 more email addresses and 400 MB of storage for all your mailboxes.
I already have Email Plus with 4 email addresses and 400 MB storage, can I downgrade?
Yes, you can downgrade your Email Plus through your Essential Extras under My Account. You will need to remove 2 of your email addresses before you can downgrade. Once you confirm the downgrade, you will lose 200 MB of storage for each mailbox.
How do I remove Email Plus?
You can remove Email Plus through your Essential Extras page under My Account. You will need to remove all your additional email addresses before you can remove Email Plus. Once you confirm that you do not want Email Plus, you will only have 100 MB of storage for each mailbox.
What happens to my email address when I downgrade or remove Email Plus?
You need to remove your additional email addresses before you can downgrade or remove Email Plus. Once you choose to remove an email address, it goes into effect immediately. If you use Web Mail, this means you will no longer be able to access the mailbox(es) you removed, and you will lose the information (emails, contacts, preferences) stored in that mailbox. If you use a POP3 account (eg Outlook Express), your stored information will not be affected but you will no longer be able to send or receive emails to this email address.
What happens to my remaining mailboxes when I downgrade or remove Email Plus?
Your remaining mailboxes will have reduced storage as of the next billing date for your account. If your mailbox(es) exceed the reduced storage limit at this time, you will not be able to send or receive emails until you reduce the size of your mailbox(es). The easiest way to reduce mailbox size is to delete some of the emails stored in the mailbox. You can check the size of your mailbox(es) through the Web Mail gauge.

Many factors contribute to the speed of your Internet connection. Depending on the quality of your phone line or phone cord, your connection speed can be slowed and you may get disconnected from time to time. Your speed may also be slow if a lot of people are trying to use the phone line at the same time or if there is electrical interference from appliances near your modem.

Using Internet Call Waiting
What is Internet Call Waiting?
Internet Call Waiting is provided by CallWave, in partnership with PeoplePC. There are 3 levels of Internet Call Waiting service. Alert is included with your PeoplePC Online account, and lets you see who's calling when you're online, just like caller ID - see the name, phone number, city and state of incoming callers. There's no need for a second phone line.
Why do I need Internet Call Waiting?
Do you ever wonder if you're missing important calls while you're online? Our members have told us that one of the frustrations of dial-up is not knowing if they are missing important calls when they are online. With Internet Call Waiting - Alert, you never need to worry about missing calls and you don't need a second phone line! Your computer will display the name and caller ID of people who are calling you while online.
CallWave is the company that provides Internet Call Waiting services - Alert, Messenger, and Connect. They are the leading provider of Internet Call Waiting services, and a trusted partner of PeoplePC.
What is Busy Call Forwarding?
Busy Call Forwarding is sometimes called Call Forwarding Fixed Busy and is a feature of your home phone service provided by your local phone company. In order for any service level of Internet Call Waiting to work, you need to have Busy Call Forwarding activated on your home phone.
Your phone will automatically be forwarded to another number any time your line is busy. CallWave provides a phone number to use for this automatic busy call forwarding, so you can use the service levels of Internet Call Waiting. A separate charge may apply to activate this feature. It is different than Call Forwarding - the feature that allows you to manually forward your phone to another phone number to receive incoming calls any time on another phone.
Busy Call Forwarding may take 3-5 days to activate. In most cases, CallWave works directly with your phone company to activate Busy Call Forwarding.
When your phone line is busy and you're connected to the Internet, incoming calls will be forwarded to CallWave via a toll-free number. You'll then SEE the phone number of the person calling you (Alert), and you'll be able to HEAR their message instantly on your computer (with Messenger), or TALK to your caller using the Connect.
Why can't I get Internet Call Waiting charges included with my PeoplePC Online charges?
Internet Call Waiting services are provided by CallWave, in partnership with PeoplePC. Because CallWave provides the Internet Call Waiting services, customer service and technical support, they bill PeoplePC Online members separately.

What are the differences between Alert, Messenger, and Connect?
For a chart explaining the different levels of Internet Call Waiting services, click here.

Internet Call Waiting services use your phone line, just like you do to connect to the Internet. In order for CallWave to properly display the caller ID and name of callers, allow you to use your computer as an answering machine, and to enable you to take an incoming call, separate software is required. This software has been approved by PeoplePC and falls within the company's strict policies regarding your privacy and safety online.
Is there any obligation or charge to get the 30-day free trial?
There is no obligation to keep any of the Internet Call Waiting services offered during or after the 30-day free trial. In order for you to use Internet Call Waiting features, you must have Busy Call Forwarding activated on your phone line. There may be a one-time set-up fee and a small monthly charge, billed by your phone company on your monthly phone bill, to have Busy Call Forwarding activated.
If you do nothing, at the end of the 30-day free trial, you will automatically switch to Alert, which is included with your PeoplePC Online service, with no extra charge from PeoplePC. You will continue to pay your phone company for Busy Call Forwarding, which is necessary for Internet Call Waiting to work.
Using Firewalls with Internet Call Waiting
If you use a personal firewall on your computer, you will see a message appear before you can download Internet Call Waiting. CallWave, the providers of Internet Call Waiting, is a trusted partner of PeoplePC, and we recommend allowing the download of their software.
